Meet LeQuan
Husband. Father. Dedicated Public Servant.

LeQuan Hylton is a husband, father, businessman, and public servant dedicated to strengthening families and communities across the Dale District in Chesterfield County.
Originally from Martinsville, Virginia, LeQuan has proudly called Chesterfield County home since his mother’s job transfer in 1998. He was raised by parents who were lifelong union members and a grandmother who instilled in him the importance of giving back, which shaped his deep respect for hard work, service, and community. Those early experiences formed his belief that when communities invest in working families, everyone benefits.
A graduate of Manchester High School, LeQuan earned a Bachelor of Science from Virginia State University, an MBA from Averett University, and a Ph.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University. He also completed leadership programs at the University of Virginia’s Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership and Harvard Business School.
LeQuan has spent decades serving the community through civic leadership and service. He is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves and a combat veteran of Afghanistan, and he previously worked in Federal Civil Service for more than 20 years. He is also a licensed Realtor and Class A contractor who founded a company focused on developing and managing affordable housing.
His commitment to service extends into philanthropy and community impact. LeQuan serves as Chair of the Ujima Legacy Fund, which focuses on empowering youth through education. In recognition of his leadership and impact, he was named one of Virginia Commonwealth University’s “10 Under 10.” He is also an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and Prince Hall Masons.
But beyond his accomplishments, it is LeQuan’s humility and family-first perspective that define his leadership. He is committed to listening, showing up, and putting people before politics.
Prior to his passing, Dale District Supervisor James M. “Jim” Holland asked LeQuan to fill his seat in an interim role, and his appointment by the Board of Supervisors was unanimous.
“None of this was accidental. People being intentional got me where I am today.” And LeQuan is running to ensure that the growth and future of Dale are just as intentional. As current District Supervisor, he has made it his mission to fight for our families and to help wherever he can by promoting better schools, good paying jobs, affordable housing, and access to quality healthcare. His vision is focused on expanding opportunity, strengthening neighborhoods, and building a community where families can thrive.
